Yacht Management Services
New Yacht construction is perhaps best described by William Waite: "Building a Superyacht represents man's most complicated and demanding blend of cold hard engineering and art."
Creating a great yacht is perhaps the greatest gift you will ever give to yourself! This is certainly an appropriate viewpoint from my perspective. In fact I would take this thought a step further. When the yacht owner has a dream in their mind of the "perfect yacht" for their use, this is the beginning of the art form. Creating the dream is the performance of the art and the many professionals involved will create the brush strokes of the masterpiece to the owner's objectives. Once the yacht is completed, the owner gets to live inside this artistic creation. If the engineering does not support the art in every material and after hundreds of thousands of hours of intense effort, a masterpiece will not be achieved. From the 'Yacht Management Services' perspective, only a team of like minded professionals can create this masterpiece for the yacht owner. We begin with the owner's idea and match the best Designer for exterior styling and interior design to this first concept. From design we carry the agenda to the Naval Architect and marine engineering. We then develop a specification and begin seeking the best shipyard to construct based upon the choice of materials, required performance, delivery schedule, and finally the budget. It can take at least a year to define these criteria. If you allow another two years for the build process and make sure that you have the best build team involved in the construction at every critical milestone, you will have a good chance to achieve your own masterpiece. We at YMS know how to do this for you. We will guide your dream into reality and we will do it with you in an enjoyable manner for everyone involved. Our experience will shorten your learning curve and lead you down a path toward success. A great yacht is measured by the smallest details. Before we begin building we must study every aspect of the design and prove out the theory of each operating system. Form and function must go hand in hand. For instance, a Lapis Lazuli marble coverlet over the shower drain must be easily removed by a petit stewardess for cleaning out the strainer or it will not get routine service. Each plank on the teak deck must have adequate drainage to dry after each washing or rain shower so camber is critical and drains must be placed with careful study to obstructions to the camber.
