Marketing & Sales

A driving force in any industry is the subject of marketing and sales. Without this energy, the boat building passion will not reach maturity. This is the essence of the yacht industry as we know it. One's yachting dream will not become a reality until there is a plan to create from start to finish and the completion can only be measured by the final delivery of the great yacht. The concept of marketing this dream is woven like a thread through all aspects of the build process.

Since 1987 my team and I have been involved with many yards with the specific purpose of developing name brand and market position. Our geographic region of expertise is best defined as "North, South, and Central America including the Caribbean Basin." The central focus of this work has been the East Coast of the United States and it’s recognized "wealth corridor."

I enjoy being involved with shipyards that are young and still emerging into their own.  This allows me and my team to have a complete understanding of the shipyard and its special product line in development. Only by knowing how a vessel is constructed can one truly grasp how to present this creation to the interested people.

In 1987, my team and I oversaw the construction of a 120 foot Italian high speed motoryacht for Tecnomarine in Viareggio. I then commanded this vessel and subsequently became the marketing and sales representative in the U.S. We were early coming into the US with Italian product and did succeed in selling several high performance fiberglass yachts and establishing excellent brand recognition.

In 1990, 1991, and 1992, I was involved in the construction and operated as the captain, as well as, marketed and finally, sold a beautiful sailboat known as the "Windship 105." A fiberglass Ron Holland design, she impressed the sailing world wherever I sailed her. This type of construction discipline was the true birth of my young company.

In 1997, I helped organize a new shipyard in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida called Destiny Yachts for the purpose of designing, building, branding, marketing and selling 100 plus foot fiberglass motoryachts. Much effort went into the branding with the results of strong sales in its first year of debut at the boat show.

In 2003, the culmination of 4 years of design, engineering, construction, branding, marketing and the selling of the "Genesis 153" led to one of the great stories of yachting legend. My team and I had formed a new shipyard, where I managed the team and led the effort to create the first full ''wheelchair access" yacht in the industry. Although we were a US based company, I moved to Italy for the duration of the 4 year process. We had the good fortune of selling this yacht to the very first customer at the boat show (especially due to his need to be in a wheelchair due to a recent stroke). This man used his passion for yachting and the Genesis to heal himself and he has recovered from his weakened condition remarkably.

In 2008 I concluded a 3 year contract representing the China based Kingship shipyard for the regions of North, South, Central America and the Caribbean Basin. I especially focused my attention toward maturing the Kingship brand and the key yacht series, called the "Magellan". In the beginning I worked with the brokerage industry and developed the magazine ad campaigns. I also became involved in the yacht construction, performed new construction bids, and worked on the contracts with the clients. Many boat shows later, we succeeded in getting Kingship busy and growing.
